  • The NEET examination was first introduced by the Government of India in 2013, as a way to provide equal opportunity to all students who aspire to become doctors.

  • The NEET examination also has a PG version, which is for students who want to pursue postgraduate courses in various medical specialties, such as ENT, Medicine, Eye, Derma, and Surgery.
  • In 2020, the admission process for AIIMS and JIPMER, which are the most reputed medical institutions in India, was also merged with NEET. This means that students who want to get admission to these institutions have to score well in the NEET examination.
